Auction result misses estimated price range
In March last year a collector was able to acquire the work Three views of Margate, Kent: Margate jetty from Hodge's Flagstaff; Margate pier and jetty from the fort; and Margate pier and jetty from the infirmary by Thomas Matthews Rooke for GBP 378.00 (€ 448.16). This price was achieved in the auction Dramas of Light and Land: The Martyn Gregory Collection of British Art at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Matthews Rooke achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Clytie Turning Towards The Sun in December 2006 with an auction result of GBP 45,600.00 (€ 67,676.11).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im März letzten Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Three views of Margate, Kent: Margate jetty from Hodge's Flagstaff; Margate pier and jetty from the fort; and Margate pier and jetty from the infirmary von Thomas Matthews Rooke für GBP 378,00 (€ 448,16) erwerben.
