The work Compositie by Theo van Doesburg was auctioned at Christies in New York in May 2013. It achieved a price of USD 1,683,750.00 (€ 1,296,388.97), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 68%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Theo van Doesburg - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Contra-Composition Vii, which sold at auction in May 2007 for USD 4,184,000.00 (€ 3,110,086.97).

Die Arbeit Compositie von Theo van Doesburg kam im Mai 2013 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 1.683.750,00 (€ 1.296.388,97) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 68%. Für andere Arbeiten von Theo van Doesburg mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Contra-Composition Vii beobachtet, die im Mai 2007 für USD 4.184.000,00 (€ 3.110.086,97) versteigert wurde.
