Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2013 Christies in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work Old Shoes by Stephen Scott Young. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 62,500.00 (€ 45,358.88) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Stephen Scott Young have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Creole Girl (Red Bows) in May 2007 with an auction result of USD 348,000.00 (€ 258,678.36).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2013 führte Christies in New York die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Old Shoes von Stephen Scott Young zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 60.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 62.500,00 (€ 45.358,88) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Stephen Scott Young auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Creole Girl (Red Bows) im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 348.000,00 (€ 258.678,36).
