Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Rabbit Plaid, 2000 by Squeak Carnwath was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in September 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,167.50 (€ 1,872.25). Admittedly, works by Squeak Carnwath have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Dress Memory, 1998 in October 2018 with an auction result of USD 10,625.00 (€ 9,376.10).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Rabbit Plaid, 2000 von Squeak Carnwath im September 2021 bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 2.167,50 (€ 1.872,25) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Squeak Carnwath auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Dress Memory, 1998 im Oktober 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 10.625,00 (€ 9.376,10).
