Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2013 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master & British Paintings Evening Sale, which included the work Portrait Of Archdeacon Strachey And His Family by William Beechey. The price achieved of GBP 230,500.00 (€ 277,255.75) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Beechey - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Dashwood Children, which sold at auction in January 2014 for USD 821,000.00 (€ 608,148.15).
