Here, the upper estimate of HKD 40,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for HKD 45,410.00 (€ 6,466.97). Admittedly, works by Oswald Joseph Hornby Birley have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Mark Birley (1930-2007), as a boy in November 2018 with an auction result of GBP 32,500.00 (€ 36,659.01).

Die Arbeit Royal Throne Hall, The Grand Palace von Oswald Joseph Hornby Birley kam im April 2002 bei Christies in Hong Kong zur Auktion. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von HKD 40.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für HKD 45.410,00 (€ 6.466,97) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Oswald Joseph Hornby Birley auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait of Mark Birley (1930-2007), as a boy im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 32.500,00 (€ 36.659,01).
