Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Oswald Joseph Hornby Birley could be acquired at Christies in London in January 2006 for an unexpectedly low price. In the British and Continental Pictures auction, the work Portrait of an officer of the 11th Hussars, three-quarter-length, in full uniform changed hands for GBP 240.00 (€ 351.77) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Oswald Joseph Hornby Birley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Mark Birley (1930-2007), as a boy in November 2018 with an auction result of GBP 32,500.00 (€ 36,659.01).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
