Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2007 Christies in London held the auction British, Continental & Russian Pictures, which included the work Portrait of a gentleman, seated three-quarter-length, in a black coat and grey trousers by Oswald Joseph Hornby Birley. It changed hands for a price of GBP 562.50 (€ 807.79) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Oswald Joseph Hornby Birley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Mark Birley (1930-2007), as a boy in November 2018 with an auction result of GBP 32,500.00 (€ 36,659.01).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion British, Continental & Russian Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of a gentleman, seated three-quarter-length, in a black coat and grey trousers von Oswald Joseph Hornby Birley zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 562,50 (€ 807,79) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 400,00 – 600,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Oswald Joseph Hornby Birley erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of Mark Birley (1930-2007), as a boy im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 32.500,00 (€ 36.659,01).
