Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of Mary Brummell, Née Richardson (1754-1793), Three-Quarter-Length by Nathaniel Dance-Holland was sold in the Old Master Paintings and Sculpture auction at Christies in New York in May 2019. It changed hands for a price of USD 37,500.00 (€ 33,635.30) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 30,000.00 – 40,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nathaniel Dance-Holland achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Thomas Assheton-Smith (1752-1828), full-length, in a red jacket in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 400,000.00 (€ 469,082.94).
