Auction result misses estimated price range
In December 2015 a collector was able to acquire the work Portrait Of Mrs Paterson, Wearing A Pink Satin Dress And Green Sash by Nathaniel Dance-Holland for GBP 12,500.00 (€ 16,974.40). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master & British Paintings Day Sale at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nathaniel Dance-Holland achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Thomas Assheton-Smith (1752-1828), full-length, in a red jacket in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 400,000.00 (€ 469,082.94).
