Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
The work Oak Trees by Lawrence Gowing was worth GBP 5,760.00 (€ 6,720.17) to a buyer in July this year. This price was achieved in the auction Modern British and Irish Art at Bonhams in Los Angeles and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Lawrence Gowing - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Self portrait in Oakleigh Avenue, which sold at auction in November 2003 for GBP 11,950.00 (€ 17,154.40).
