In November 2003 Christies in London held the auction 20th Century British Art including the Collection of the, which included the work Self portrait in Oakleigh Avenue by Lawrence Gowing. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 11,950.00 (€ 17,154.40), 49% above the upper estimate. With this result, Self portrait in Oakleigh Avenue is even the most expensive work of art by Lawrence Gowing that we have observed at auctions so far.
