It achieved a price of GBP 8,400.00 (€ 12,401.04), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 68%. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Lawrence Gowing; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Self portrait in Oakleigh Avenue sold at auction in November 2003 with the realized price of GBP 11,950.00 (€ 17,154.40).
