This artwork by Charles D'Oyly achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in January 2009. In the Christie's Interiors auction, the work Tom Raw departs for India; and Tom Raw at Sea sold for GBP 1,625.00 (€ 1,829.20) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles D'Oyly achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pushkar, India, with a parade of figures, elephants and horses in the foreground in October 2011 with an auction result of GBP 22,500.00 (€ 26,039.47).

Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Charles D'Oyly erzielen.
