In May 2015 Phillips in London held the auction Photographs, which included the work The North Gate of Baghdad (After Corot) from Scenes from a Liberated Baghdad by Simon Norfolk. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 9,375.00 (€ 13,034.95), 56% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Simon Norfolk; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Former Teahouse in a park next to the Afghan Exhibition of Economic and Social Achievements in the Shah Shahid district of Kabul sold at auction in November 2008 with the realized price of GBP 13,750.00 (€ 16,624.78).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 56 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2015 führte Phillips in London die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit The North Gate of Baghdad (After Corot) from Scenes from a Liberated Baghdad von Simon Norfolk zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 9.375,00 (€ 13.034,95) und damit 56% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Simon Norfolk; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Former Teahouse in a park next to the Afghan Exhibition of Economic and Social Achievements in the Shah Shahid district of Kabul im November 2008 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 13.750,00 (€ 16.624,78).
