In March 2005 Christies in New York held the auction Indian and Southeast Asian Art including Modern and, which included the work Woman Praying by Shyamal Dutta Ray. The »bidding war« ended at USD 4,200.00 (€ 3,238.49), 20% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Shyamal Dutta Ray have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work without title in September 2008 with an auction result of USD 35,000.00 (€ 24,856.19).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im März 2005 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Indian and Southeast Asian Art including Modern and durch, in der auch die Arbeit Woman Praying von Shyamal Dutta Ray zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 4.200,00 (€ 3.238,49) und damit 20% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Shyamal Dutta Ray auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit ohne Titel im September 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 35.000,00 (€ 24.856,19).
