In September 2011 Christies in New York held the auction South Asian Modern & Contemporary Art, which included the work Fly the Sky by Shibu Natesan. The »bidding war« ended at USD 68,500.00 (€ 50,933.15), 37% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Shibu Natesan - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Stand Alone, which sold at auction in September 2006 for USD 198,000.00 (€ 156,065.26).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 37 % übertroffen
Im September 2011 führte Christies in New York die Auktion South Asian Modern & Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Fly the Sky von Shibu Natesan zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 68.500,00 (€ 50.933,15) und damit 37% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Shibu Natesan mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Stand Alone beobachtet, die im September 2006 für USD 198.000,00 (€ 156.065,26) versteigert wurde.
