In July last year Christies in New York held the auction First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art, which included the work Ellipse Drawing by Sherrie Levine. The »bidding war« ended at USD 6,930.00 (€ 6,792.79), 39% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sherrie Levine achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Fountain (After Marcel Duchamp) in May 2012 with an auction result of USD 962,500.00 (€ 778,469.75).

Oberer Schätzpreis um 39 % übertroffen

Im Juli letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Ellipse Drawing von Sherrie Levine zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 6.930,00 (€ 6.792,79) und damit 39% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Sherrie Levine erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Fountain (After Marcel Duchamp) im Mai 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 962.500,00 (€ 778.469,75).
