In December this year Phillips in London held the auction New Now, which included the work Untitled (Hat) by Sherrie Levine. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 40,640.00 (€ 46,815.72), 35% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sherrie Levine achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Fountain (After Marcel Duchamp) in May 2012 with an auction result of USD 962,500.00 (€ 778,469.75).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 35 % übertroffen
Im Dezember diesen Jahres führte Phillips in London die Auktion New Now durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (Hat) von Sherrie Levine zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 40.640,00 (€ 46.815,72) und damit 35% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Sherrie Levine erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Fountain (After Marcel Duchamp) im Mai 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 962.500,00 (€ 778.469,75).
