Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Relief No. 172 (Fenditura spazio orizzontale lungo) by Sérgio de Camargo was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in November 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 500,000.00 – 700,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 528,200.00 (€ 467,972.00) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Sérgio de Camargo - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled (Relief No. 21/52), which sold at auction in November 2013 for USD 2,165,000.00 (€ 1,591,209.76).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Relief No. 172 (Fenditura spazio orizzontale lungo) von Sérgio de Camargo kam im November 2021 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 500.000,00 – 700.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 528.200,00 (€ 467.972,00) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Sérgio de Camargo mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled (Relief No. 21/52) beobachtet, die im November 2013 für USD 2.165.000,00 (€ 1.591.209,76) versteigert wurde.
