In October 2021 Phillips in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work New York by Saul Leiter. The »bidding war« ended at USD 8,190.00 (€ 7,089.68), 37% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Saul Leiter - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Snow, which sold at auction in May 2021 for GBP 18,900.00 (€ 21,990.59).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 37 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2021 führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit New York von Saul Leiter zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 8.190,00 (€ 7.089,68) und damit 37% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Saul Leiter mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Snow beobachtet, die im Mai 2021 für GBP 18.900,00 (€ 21.990,59) versteigert wurde.
