Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2020 Bonhams in London held the auction Prints & MultiplesPart I: (Lots 1-250) Part II: The Arthur N. Gilbert Collection of Important Prints by James Gillray (1756-1815)(Lots 251-363), which included the work The Skylark by Samuel Palmer. The price achieved of GBP 5,737.50 (€ 6,409.30) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Samuel Palmer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Shepherd leading his flock under the full moon in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 1,588,000.00 (€ 1,862,259.27).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2020 führte Bonhams in London die Auktion Prints & MultiplesPart I: (Lots 1-250) Part II: The Arthur N. Gilbert Collection of Important Prints by James Gillray (1756-1815)(Lots 251-363) durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Skylark von Samuel Palmer zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 5.737,50 (€ 6.409,30) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Samuel Palmer erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Shepherd leading his flock under the full moon im Juli 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.588.000,00 (€ 1.862.259,27).
