Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In September 2006 Christies in London held the auction Portrait Miniatures, Objects of Vertu, Silver and Plate and Icons, which included the work Unknown by Samuel Cotes. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 400.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 456.00 (€ 672.70). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Samuel Cotes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A boy, in pink-lined sea-green coat and waistcoat, lace-bordered white shirt, black hat adorned with black-lined pink ribbon and bow in his curling fair hair in December 2003 with an auction result of GBP 19,120.00 (€ 27,080.97).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im September 2006 führte Christies in London die Auktion Portrait Miniatures, Objects of Vertu, Silver and Plate and Icons durch, in der auch die Arbeit Unknown von Samuel Cotes zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 400,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 456,00 (€ 672,70) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Samuel Cotes erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A boy, in pink-lined sea-green coat and waistcoat, lace-bordered white shirt, black hat adorned with black-lined pink ribbon and bow in his curling fair hair im Dezember 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 19.120,00 (€ 27.080,97).
