Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2004 Christies in London held the auction AT HOME - PORTRAIT MINIATURES, OBJECTS OF VERTU,SILVER PLATE, which included the work A young gentleman, facing right in a grey coat with black collar, powdered wig en queue by Samuel Cotes. The price achieved of GBP 358.50 (€ 541.77) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300.00 – 400.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Samuel Cotes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A boy, in pink-lined sea-green coat and waistcoat, lace-bordered white shirt, black hat adorned with black-lined pink ribbon and bow in his curling fair hair in December 2003 with an auction result of GBP 19,120.00 (€ 27,080.97).

Im Juli 2004 führte Christies in London die Auktion AT HOME - PORTRAIT MINIATURES, OBJECTS OF VERTU,SILVER PLATE durch, in der auch die Arbeit A young gentleman, facing right in a grey coat with black collar, powdered wig en queue von Samuel Cotes zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 358,50 (€ 541,77) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 300,00 – 400,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Samuel Cotes erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A boy, in pink-lined sea-green coat and waistcoat, lace-bordered white shirt, black hat adorned with black-lined pink ribbon and bow in his curling fair hair im Dezember 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 19.120,00 (€ 27.080,97).
