Upper estimate price exceeded by 33 %.
The work Portrait Of Mary Ann, Countess Of Buckinghamshire (1740-1769) by Samuel Cotes was auctioned at Sothebys in London in May 2020. It achieved a price of GBP 2,000.00 (€ 2,220.22), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 33%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Samuel Cotes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A boy, in pink-lined sea-green coat and waistcoat, lace-bordered white shirt, black hat adorned with black-lined pink ribbon and bow in his curling fair hair in December 2003 with an auction result of GBP 19,120.00 (€ 27,080.97).
