In December 2018 Sothebys in London held the auction Part I, which included the work Portrait Of Lieutenant General William Amherst (1722-1781) by Samuel Cotes. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 4,750.00 (€ 5,291.92), 36% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Samuel Cotes have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A boy, in pink-lined sea-green coat and waistcoat, lace-bordered white shirt, black hat adorned with black-lined pink ribbon and bow in his curling fair hair in December 2003 with an auction result of GBP 19,120.00 (€ 27,080.97).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 36 % übertroffen
Im Dezember 2018 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Part I durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait Of Lieutenant General William Amherst (1722-1781) von Samuel Cotes zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 4.750,00 (€ 5.291,92) und damit 36% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Samuel Cotes auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A boy, in pink-lined sea-green coat and waistcoat, lace-bordered white shirt, black hat adorned with black-lined pink ribbon and bow in his curling fair hair im Dezember 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 19.120,00 (€ 27.080,97).
