Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of A Lady, Traditionally Identified As Lady Lucas by Samuel Cooper was sold in the The Pohl-Ströher Collection of Portrait Miniatures, Part III auction at Sothebys in London in December 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 6,250.00 (€ 7,386.77) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Samuel Cooper achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Gentleman Called John Campbell, Earl of Loudoun (1598-1663), In Gilt-Studded Armour, Large White Patterned Lawn Collar; Sky And Cloud Background in June 2007 with an auction result of GBP 66,000.00 (€ 97,940.68).
