This artwork by Samuel Bak achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in February 2019. In the Impressionist and Modern Art Day Sale auction, the work Composition aux poires et aux bustes de pierre (Old Wise Men) sold for GBP 21,250.00 (€ 24,788.87) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 12,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Samuel Bak; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Blue Flag sold at auction in December 2016 with the realized price of USD 35,000.00 (€ 33,169.07).

Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Samuel Bak; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Blue Flag im Dezember 2016 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 35.000,00 (€ 33.169,07).
