In June 2021 Sothebys in London held the auction Modern & Contemporary Art Evening Sale, which included the work Runner arriving by Salvatore Scarpitta. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 765,200.00 (€ 891,656.92), 28% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Salvatore Scarpitta - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Housing Developed, which sold at auction in October 2019 for GBP 2,535,000.00 (€ 2,940,418.20).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 28 % übertroffen
Im Juni 2021 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Modern & Contemporary Art Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Runner arriving von Salvatore Scarpitta zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 765.200,00 (€ 891.656,92) und damit 28% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Salvatore Scarpitta mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Housing Developed beobachtet, die im Oktober 2019 für GBP 2.535.000,00 (€ 2.940.418,20) versteigert wurde.
