Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Drummer Brigade by Salvatore Scarpitta was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in May this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 240,000.00 – 280,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 214,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Salvatore Scarpitta achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Housing Developed in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 2,535,000.00 (€ 2,940,418.20).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Drummer Brigade von Salvatore Scarpitta im Mai diesen Jahres bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 240.000,00 – 280.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 214.200,00 den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Salvatore Scarpitta erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Housing Developed im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.535.000,00 (€ 2.940.418,20).
