Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Coltrane On Soprano, 1963 by Roy DeCarava was sold in the Photographs auction at Christies in New York in October 2013. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 22,500.00 (€ 16,551.42) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Roy DeCarava - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Hallway, New York, which sold at auction in October 2019 for USD 72,500.00 (€ 64,993.28).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Coltrane On Soprano, 1963 von Roy DeCarava wurde im Oktober 2013 in der Auktion Photographs bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 22.500,00 (€ 16.551,42) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Roy DeCarava mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Hallway, New York beobachtet, die im Oktober 2019 für USD 72.500,00 (€ 64.993,28) versteigert wurde.
