Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Roy DeCarava achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in April 2019. In the Photographs auction, the work 'Coltrane + Elvin' sold for USD 32,500.00 (€ 29,015.27) - well above the upper estimate of USD 12,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Roy DeCarava - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Hallway, New York, which sold at auction in October 2019 for USD 72,500.00 (€ 64,993.28).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Roy DeCarava erzielte im April 2019 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Photographs wurde die Arbeit 'Coltrane + Elvin' für USD 32.500,00 (€ 29.015,27) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 12.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Roy DeCarava mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Hallway, New York beobachtet, die im Oktober 2019 für USD 72.500,00 (€ 64.993,28) versteigert wurde.
