In September 2004 Christies in New York held the auction Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work Lingering Rain, Moon And Eventide by Robert William Vonnoh. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Robert William Vonnoh - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Blue Chair, which sold at auction in December 2004 for USD 71,700.00 (€ 52,962.03).

Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 23.900,00 (€ 19.247,81) und damit 33% über dem oberen Schätzpreis.
