Painted in 1889.
The present work is a study for Robert Vonnoh's November (1890, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) and was painted in Grez-sur-Loing, France. Vonnoh was the first American Impressionist to have a solo exhibition held at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.

Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Study for 'November' by Robert William Vonnoh was sold in the American Art Online auction at Christies in New York in November 2017. The price achieved of USD 37,500.00 (€ 31,517.90) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Other works by Robert William Vonnoh have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in December 2004 the work The Blue Chair was auctioned for USD 71,700.00 (€ 52,962.03).
