In July last year Christies in New York held the auction First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art, which included the work Boughs and Bags for Shade by Robert Gwathmey. The »bidding war« ended at USD 21,420.00 (€ 20,995.88), 43% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Robert Gwathmey - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Country Gospel Music, which sold at auction in November last year for USD 50,775.00 (€ 49,186.28).

Im Juli letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Boughs and Bags for Shade von Robert Gwathmey zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 21.420,00 (€ 20.995,88) und damit 43% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Robert Gwathmey mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Country Gospel Music beobachtet, die im November letzten Jahres für USD 50.775,00 (€ 49.186,28) versteigert wurde.
