Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The 21st Lancers with their predecessors the 21st Hussars and the 21st Light Dragoons by Richard Simkin was sold in the Christie's Interiors auction at Christies in London in April 2010. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 625.00 (€ 719.25) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Richard Simkin have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work 10th Prince of Wales's Own Royal Hussars; and three others in January 2001 with an auction result of USD 5,287.50 (€ 5,680.60).
