Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When this work without title by Rene Ricard was auctioned at Phillips in New York in March last year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 5,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at USD 20,160.00 (€ 18,173.62). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Rene Ricard - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled (Blow-jobs...), which sold at auction in March this year for USD 50,400.00 (€ 46,357.62).
Kunstwerk zum Vierfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit ohne Titel von Rene Ricard im März letzten Jahres bei Phillips in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 5.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 20.160,00 (€ 18.173,62) mehr als viermal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Rene Ricard mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled (Blow-jobs...) beobachtet, die im März diesen Jahres für USD 50.400,00 (€ 46.357,62) versteigert wurde.
