Artwork auctioned at 11 times the upper estimate price
When this work without title by Rene Ricard was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2020, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 600.00 but the actual price achieved was more than 11 times as high at USD 6,930.00 (€ 5,950.03). Admittedly, works by Rene Ricard have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled (Blow-jobs...) in March this year with an auction result of USD 50,400.00 (€ 46,357.62).
Kunstwerk zum Elffachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit ohne Titel von Rene Ricard im Oktober 2020 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 600,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 6.930,00 (€ 5.950,03) mehr als elfmal so hoch. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Rene Ricard auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled (Blow-jobs...) im März diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 50.400,00 (€ 46.357,62).
