Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Hippopotame bâillant by Rembrandt Bugatti was auctioned at Sothebys in Paris in October 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 1,500,000.00 – 2,000,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 1,464,500.00. Other works by Rembrandt Bugatti have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in May 2015 by the work Babouin Sacré Hamadryas at USD 2,770,000.00 (€ 2,519,556.12).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Hippopotame bâillant von Rembrandt Bugatti im Oktober 2021 bei Sothebys in Paris versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 1.500.000,00 – 2.000.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 1.464.500,00 den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Rembrandt Bugatti wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im Mai 2015 die Arbeit Babouin Sacré Hamadryas mit USD 2.770.000,00 (€ 2.519.556,12).
