Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Dotted Andy with Snail by Ray Johnson was auctioned at Phillips in an online auction in July 2019. The price achieved of USD 4,688.00 (€ 4,212.04) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ray Johnson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Comb in March 2021 with an auction result of GBP 47,500.00 (€ 55,800.26).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Dotted Andy with Snail von Ray Johnson kam im Juli 2019 bei Phillips in einer Online-Auktion zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 4.688,00 (€ 4.212,04) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ray Johnson erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Comb im März 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 47.500,00 (€ 55.800,26).
