Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Luberon covered in snow, Provence, France; and Blue Luberon, Provence, France by Ray Garvey was auctioned at Christies in London in August 2006, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 240.00 (€ 356.90). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ray Garvey - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Hale-Bopp over Provence, France, which sold at auction in August 2006 for GBP 720.00 (€ 1,070.69).
