This artwork by Ramesh Sharma achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in October 2001. In the Islamic and Indian Works of Art auction, the work Seated courtesan sold for GBP 1,116.25 (€ 1,804.02) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 600.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Ramesh Sharma; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Deers head axe sold at auction in October 2001 with the realized price of GBP 1,175.00 (€ 1,898.97).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Ramesh Sharma erzielte im Oktober 2001 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Islamic and Indian Works of Art wurde die Arbeit Seated courtesan für GBP 1.116,25 (€ 1.804,02) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 600,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Ramesh Sharma; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Deers head axe im Oktober 2001 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 1.175,00 (€ 1.898,97).
