Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Goat herder by Ramesh Sharma was sold in the Islamic & Indian Works of Art auction at Christies in London in May 2001. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 500.00 – 800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 528.75 (€ 886.46) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ramesh Sharma - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Deers head axe, which sold at auction in October 2001 for GBP 1,175.00 (€ 1,898.97).
