Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2001 Christies in London held the auction Islamic & Indian Works of Art, which included the work Hookah Base by Ramesh Sharma. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 329.00 (€ 551.58) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ramesh Sharma - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Deers head axe, which sold at auction in October 2001 for GBP 1,175.00 (€ 1,898.97).
