R.H. QUAYTMAN (B. 1961) Caption signed, titled and dated 'R.H. QUAYTMAN, 2003 "Caption"' (on the reverse) oil and gesso on wood 12 3 ⁄ 8 x 20 in. (31.4 x 50.8 cm.) Painted in 2003.
Auction result misses estimated price range
In December last year a collector was able to acquire the work Caption by R. H. Quaytman for USD 8,820.00 (€ 8,244.53). This price was achieved in the auction First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by R. H. Quaytman achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Constructivismes, Chapter 13 in June 2015 with an auction result of GBP 578,500.00 (€ 815,677.74).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Dezember letzten Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Caption von R. H. Quaytman für USD 8.820,00 (€ 8.244,53) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art bei Christies in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von R. H. Quaytman erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Constructivismes, Chapter 13 im Juni 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 578.500,00 (€ 815.677,74).
