Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Pamela by Philippe Mercier was auctioned at Christies in London in May this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 3,780.00 (€ 3,547.96). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Philippe Mercier achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Allegories Of The Five Senses: Hearing, Smell, Sight, Taste And Touch in January 2010 with an auction result of USD 386,500.00 (€ 278,658.98).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Pamela von Philippe Mercier im Mai diesen Jahres bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 3.780,00 (€ 3.547,96) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Philippe Mercier erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Allegories Of The Five Senses: Hearing, Smell, Sight, Taste And Touch im Januar 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 386.500,00 (€ 278.658,98).
