Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2017 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Masters Day Sale, which included the work A Young Woman Carrying A Tea Tray, Possibly Hannah, The Artist'S Maid by Philippe Mercier. The price achieved of GBP 62,500.00 (€ 70,334.59) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Philippe Mercier - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Allegories Of The Five Senses: Hearing, Smell, Sight, Taste And Touch, which sold at auction in January 2010 for USD 386,500.00 (€ 278,658.98).
