Sold at the lower estimate price
The work Bonita crossing the line, ahead of Luline and L'Hirondelle after a close-run three-hour race, on 21th August 1862, off St Helier, one of the first races of the newly formed Royal Channel Islands Yacht Club by Philip John Ouless was sold in the Maritime Art auction at Christies in London in November 2012. The result of GBP 2,500.00 (€ 3,079.75) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 2,500.00 – 3,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Philip John Ouless achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work View taken from under South Hill, St Helier, Jersey in November 2010 with an auction result of GBP 57,650.00 (€ 68,891.66).

Die Arbeit Bonita crossing the line, ahead of Luline and L'Hirondelle after a close-run three-hour race, on 21th August 1862, off St Helier, one of the first races of the newly formed Royal Channel Islands Yacht Club von Philip John Ouless wurde im November 2012 in der Auktion Maritime Art bei Christies in London versteigert.
