In March 2011 Christies in London held the auction Christie's Interiors Including Paintings, Drawings & Watercolours From The Collection of The Late John Appleby, which included the work Markwell of Jersey. Thomas Le Dain, Master. 2nd May 1833. From Jersey to Chaleur, Long W47'10" Lat N40'32" by Philip John Ouless. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 9,375.00 (€ 10,607.77), 56% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Philip John Ouless have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work View taken from under South Hill, St Helier, Jersey in November 2010 with an auction result of GBP 57,650.00 (€ 68,891.66).

Thomas Le Dain, Master. 2nd May 1833. From Jersey to Chaleur, Long W47'10" Lat N40'32" von Philip John Ouless zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 9.375,00 (€ 10.607,77) und damit 56% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Philip John Ouless auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit View taken from under South Hill, St Helier, Jersey im November 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 57.650,00 (€ 68.891,66).
