Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Philip John Ouless achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in October last year. In the The Marine Sale auction, the work A French Steam Packet departing Granville, Normandy sold for GBP 4,080.00 (€ 4,753.15) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Philip John Ouless achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work View taken from under South Hill, St Helier, Jersey in November 2010 with an auction result of GBP 57,650.00 (€ 68,891.66).
